India Intel Student Research Contest 2004-5India Intel Student Research Contest 2004-5

The India Intel Student Research Contest grants awards to students for research projects conducted at their school. The objective of this contest is to give the students an opportunity to: develop problem solving and analytical skills; simulate innovative thinking; and encourage them to take up higher education in research as a career.

Students involved in the India ISRC this year worked with their college or university professors, and consulted with technical advisors from the Intel India Development Center on their projects. Sixteen colleges were invited to participate, and from those, Intel selected eight finalists. The finalists whose proposals passed the first round of competition had eight months to complete their projects. They were then invited to Bangalore to present their work to the panel of judges.

"Intel's commitment to programs like ISRC gives these young minds a chance to stand up and be recognized. These programs stir the imagination of the future generations of scientists, mathematicians, and researchers," says Ketan Sampat, Intel India president.

Plans are currently underway for the next contest and will be announced in early 2005.
